This is very personal, but at 16 I was brutally attacked and raped. My parents chose to ignore the event and told me I'd get over it. No therapy was offered, no talk of it was allowed. I am reading the Female Brain and got to the chapter on the teen girl brain, and found there were parts in there that identified me. I am 47 years old and have been in the midst of perimenopause, and probably menopause now with a whole bunch of questions roaming through my brain daily.
