Brain chemistry and depression
This is very personal, but at 16 I was brutally attacked and raped. My parents chose to ignore the event and told me I'd get over it. No therapy was offered, no talk of it was allowed. AFter that, I stopped being a good student, became a pot smoking bad girl, and my parents still said nothing. Teen Brain/Menopausal Woman
I am reading the Female Brain and got to the chapter on the teen girl brain, and found there were parts in there that identified me. I am 47 years old and have been in the midst of perimenopause, and probably menopause now with a whole bunch of questions roaming through my brain daily.
The one area that is of grave concern to me is that hormonal fluctuation that continues to plague me.
