Also, research shows that bad moods in women may be due to the female brain's reduced manufacture of serotonin relative to males--who make more serotonin. This is especially true during the weeks of low estrogen and falling progesterone of the menstrual cycle--ie, the week before onset of menstruation. Natural ways to ameliorate this are: moderate to strenuous exercise, foods high in tryptophan (ie proteins).
