are emotions more important in assessing reality for women?

Everyone appears to need some emotional responsiveness to think both the world and themselves are real, but the following idea seems interesting to me to discuss.  I was reading a bit about delusions, and how in a severe form of delusion (capgras) a person might think that their spouse was replaced by an exact duplicate, or clone.  There is some evidence that females suffer from clinical delusions more frequently than males-and drawing on a type of methodology that suggests if Y has a problem A… Continue

a most interesting gender difference

n summary, 1) there are substantial differences in female cortical activation topography during rectal distension compared with males, in that the insula and anterior cingulate/prefrontal cortices are predominantly activated in females

Women & Evil

In a great many low-tech societies (the kind that are sometimes assumed to be more like the way every culture was a long time ago) women are perceived as sources of potential pollution to adult males-and in some way the culture proscribes certain behaviors and sets up certain rituals to deal with the pollution.  Women are perceived to carry a threat in some way.  In the Bible and in early Greek religions-it was a female that brought evil into the world.  My question is 1)if in fact women…

Hey Joel, i would reluctantly agree with your assertion that men statistically are more violent than women. However, there is much to said  and discussed concerning the bias and other assumptions inherent in how we define violence, how we  categorize the information,  the absence of contextual background and how we judge men by different standards of behaviour than we do women.  We also need to look closely at how we define a women's involvement in and support of war. Excellent recent  historical examples of women who supported, instigated  and carried out war and violence, death, torture, ethnic cleansing, genocide, religious perseceution and much more would be Queen Isabella of Spain. She along with her husband and second cousin King Ferdinand together, consildated power in order to unite Spain through war and bloodshed. First against The country of Granada and they orchestrated the infamous ethic, religious cleansing of Islam through the imposition of the Spanish Inqusition, during which 300,000 others were either killed and or tortured. And we all know the influence Queen Isabella and Ferdinand had on the Native Americans History, somehow doesn't recognize this as female violence, which underscores my point of how we are blinded  to the violence of women even when it is right in front of our faces. Certainly the genteel women of the South, who helped manage and sometimes directly implement, the richest most elaborate, codified system of slavery the world has ever known, almost without exception, supported the degradation, torture, killing, etc, etc, etc of 4 million people. They  also with great fervor and enthusiam supported the Civil War, in which 600,000 men died. Which is again a perfect example of how we ignore womens involvement in war primarily because they do little fighting. The truth is we  have yet to study, without bias, women and how they are involvled in the process of war and bias and discrimination, religious persecution and the like.

in just these two examples, we have evidence that shows women behaving, not like men, but like violent women. How much more will we find when we look closer? Elizabeth Fox Genovese writes ( i'm paraphrasing ) that female historians have systematically excluded this view of women from their writings for fear that including it  will weaken the position of women as victims of male dominance. It also occurrs to me millions of A the middle east.merican women were in favor of our invasion of  This, my friend is intellectual, social, high treason. Interestingly, we seldom talk about the organized male resistant to war which has a tradition which dates back to begining of concription. But, of course, since "all men" love war..........   What are the standards by which we decide who's violence has more negative social impact?

Joel you still don't understand and you seem to be taking this personal rather than listening to where i'm coming from. This is not about you Joel. This is about what i've learned in 55 years of trying to negoiate a racist universe: not meaning you!   With all due respect Joel, having read 20 or 30 books on race is a drop in the bucket of understanding on the issue. And based on the kind of debate oriented relationship you aspire to have, it could only go so far because we don't have similar command  of the materail. It's almost like dating a white woman who knows little about my culture. Can it work? Yes, but it's hard as shit!  And it doesn't work by accident. And it's true, Joel sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. This misunderstanding is exemplary of what i mean. So to scold me because my experiences tell me to be careful hardly seems reasonable. So sorry Joel, you are a smart man.

Your right Joel, i should've mentioned Jews also. In the complex inner workings of a intricate society, i don't think we know exactly how the connection between men ,women and violence works because it's never been studied. But i have watched enough, read enough, and been victimized enough to know, for instance, that racial conflict, religious conflict, ethnic cleansing, is not simply acted out by men in a culture in a vacuum. There is enough evidence just in the Civil War of female violence against women, men  and children of their own making that was in support of broader notions of racial, religious, cultural superiority that they accepted and championed.

Hey Joel, how are you and your family? Well, i hope. I want some feed back from you on a matter. IT seems as though whenever there is ( or at least most of the time) a legitimate criticism of grossly negative female behaviour, women on this site and most everywhere else in culture, basically blow it off or ultimately blame in on men. How can male infidelity be discussed without including female infidelity?
